The MGA (Malta Gaming Authority) has announced that it will begin private consultations with licensees on proposed amendments to the Player Protection Directive.
According to the regulator, the amendments are intended to ” strengthen and clarify the current player protection framework ” and lead to ” ultimate issuance of detailed player protection guidelines for licensees .”
Responsible Gambling and the 5 Harm Indicators
The first step in this process is to delve into the obligations of licensees regarding responsible gaming policies and procedures and the introduction of the “Five Danger Markers”.
These markers should be considered by licensees when determining and developing measures and procedures to address problem gambling, the MGA said.
In addition, the regulator also included provisions for real money reinforcement and staff training in the amendments.
The proposed amendments to the Responsible Gambling Policy are based on a review of key parts of gambling regulation conducted by experts in the field, and experience gathered through MGA research and responsible gaming unit audits and practices visits. It’s a thing.
Consultations have already begun and licensees will have until October 14, 2022 to provide feedback.
