Goo Min-gyo (Jemulpo high 3, 197cm), ahead of the U19 World Cup, expressed her strong determination.
The Korean U19 men’s basketball team started training on the 24th of last month. This is to participate in the 2023 FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup to be held in Hungary on the 24th. Min-gyo Ku, the youngest member of the national team, is also sweating with his older brothers.
Koo Min-gyo said, “Compared to other teams, Korea has a relatively small physical condition. I am focusing on training to maximize team defense and movement without the ball.”
The national team won 85-78 in a practice game against Sungkyunkwan University held at the gymnasium of the natural science campus of Sungkyunkwan University on the 10th. All the players participated evenly and showed off their performance. Min-gyo Gu had a head-to-head match with his older brother, In-gyo Gu, who is in the first year of Sungkyunkwan University.
“There are no brothers on the court,” he said. It seems like we just played hard to beat each other. He laughed, saying, “I didn’t care much because he believed that he could improve his skills only if he thought he was one of the players on the opposing team.”
The national team included many of their own resources by position, such as Kang Tae-hyeon (Kyungbok High School 3, 197cm), Lee Yu-jin (Yongsan High 3, 200cm), and Yu Min-soo (Korea University 1st, 200cm). Koo Min-gyo focused on playing behind the net at Jemulpo High School, but now he is increasing the proportion of outside play.먹튀검증
Regarding this, Koo Min-gyo said, “Director Lee Se-beom tells me to shoot actively. He is doing it with the mindset of resetting what he was doing and starting over, but it wasn’t easy. Still, he’s trying his best. He thinks that if he finds confidence, he will perform better.”
Korea was placed in Group D along with Hungary, Turkey and Argentina in the U19 World Cup. It is expected that it will be a difficult game as all three teams are not formidable.
Koo Min-gyo said, “Winning or losing is important, but I think what you get is more important. I will try to learn as much as possible.”
